You must register, be accepted, and pay a fee (or have it waived as a consumer, family member, or APD staff) in order to be have a valid user ID and password to participate in any course.

You must be a Florida resident to be accepted.

FORMAT: All courses are self-paced with an instructor moderating. Each unit includes readings, web-based activities, web-based discussion, and a post-test.

FEE: $75 for combined course. Fee waiver for consumers of service and their family members and APD staff. Please note cancellations must be received one week before the start of the course for a refund or credit.

COURSES:

Introduction to Supported Employment

In this course you will be introduced to the importance of employment to people with disabilities, a group historically with the highest unemployment rate in the country. You will also learn about some of the unique obstacles they face in getting hired and succeeding at work.

Tools of Supported Employment

This section reviews the tools of implementing supported employment leading to successful career planning, job development and job support. You will learn the processes of individualizing a job search and job support plan in the context of each person's career and life goals.

This Orientation course consists of two separate units and meets the APD 18-hour pre-service requirement.

A certificate of completion will be presented to participants who successfully complete course requirements and pass the post-test.
